Client Stories
Elizabeth (not her real name) came to see Cary for help to heal her life. She was morbidly obese and depressed from both sexual and substance abuse. Her quality of life was poor due to other health issues, and she was on disability. Elizabeth joined Alcoholics Anonymous and eventually Overeaters Anonymous. We began to work on her feelings of anger, guilt, shame and self-loathing toward herself and others. She started exercising faithfully and taking care of herself physically, emotionally and spiritually. Over time she was able to forgive herself and others for the pain that was inflicted. Today she is a recovered alcoholic and such an inspiration to others on the recovery journey. Elizabeth has lost several hundred pounds and is able to work part-time using her many gifts to help others.
Jackie (not her real name) was a struggling college student diagnosed with bi-polar depression. She felt neglected emotionally by her parents, who did not give her the emotional nurturing she needed to feel good about herself. Jackie wasn’t acknowledged for the bright, capable young woman she was. She was in a relationship that was unhealthy and further eroded her self esteem. Cary helped her work through her feelings of hurt, anger and grief. Jackie learned to set boundaries with family, friends and colleagues to better take care of herself. She learned to value who she was and the gifts she had to offer both personally and professionally. Today she is a college graduate, happily married and gainfully employed.
